Tuesday we took the bus into New York City. We knew it would be raining along our trip so Rob bought us some ponchos before we left. We were so glad we had them. I was a little nervous about walking around the city with the kids, but because of the rain their wasn't as many people about, which was nice. The rain just made it an adventure. The port authority bus terminal is just a few blocks from times square so we started there and worked our way north.
Next stop was St. Patrick's Cathedral.
It was beautiful. They were doing a lot of work inside, scrubbing every detail.
Next we went to FAO Schwartz. We heard that it is going to be closing, so we had to take the boys inside.
Lincoln loved the giant stuffed animals,
and Porter loved the giant gummy bears.
They had a part of the store that you could design your own puppet,
and another where they can design an action figure to look like you. Lincoln's was the only one that actually looked like him, but we weren't willing to spend a hundred bucks to get one.
After the toy store we walked to Central Park. I could have stayed there all day.
We came out of the park at the museum of natural history, and started making our way back.
We came upon a statue of Abraham Lincoln outside the historical society so Lincoln had to take his picture with him.
On our walk back we remembered that the NY temple was in that area, so we googled it and found it right around the corner.
There is no visitor center, so we only got to go into the lobby.
We found some cheap pizza for dinner before getting back to our bus, and the boys were happy.
I was so impressed with the boys. We walked about 80 blocks and they were troopers! Not a complaint from any of them, it was a good day.
