East Coast Trip- Philadelphia- Day 6

Monday morning we got to Valley Forge early. It was really neat to be at such a historical place.

We drove around the historical park and found the National Memorial Arch. It was dedicated in 1917 to George Washington and his army who endured the winter encampment at Valley Forge.

There were log cabins sporadically around the park.

They had beds set up in there like the soldiers would have used. The boys, of course, had to try them out.

We explored the park for a while,

and may have gotten lost down some beautiful woodsy roads.

We then left Valley Forge and went to this little zoo that we found a groupon for before we left. On our drive over I found a spider crawling up my leg and may have overreacted a bit as I swatted it off my leg, and then panicked when I couldn't figure out where it went. 5 minutes later I may have overreacted even more when I saw it on my shoe and instantly flung my foot out the window to shake it off. The boys thought it was hilarious and Ethan quickly found a page in his book to tease me with.

The groupon included admission to the zoo and also to their new ropes course. We started at the ropes course. The boys got all geared up and listened to all the instructions well.

Then they clipped them on, and they were off!!

There were 2 ziplines as part of the course,

 and Lincoln gave it 2 thumbs up.

Half way through the course Lincoln had to use the bathroom. Luckily we have boys and he just ran up the hill to his own little corner,

and then right back to the course.

The boys loved every minute of it. Porter was definitely in his element.

After the ropes course we went over to the zoo. It was small and only had a few animals, but Ethan was loving the giraffe's.

They had a park too. 

The boys loved the tire swing and the boys took turns having Rob push them around.

When we were done at the zoo, we stopped by Valley Forge again to see the things we missed before we had to be at the zoo. First stop was Washington's Headquarters and office.

Then we went to the Washington Memorial Chapel that honors soldiers of the American Revolution. It is an active Episcopal church.

In the tower they had the Justice Bell on display. This bell was used on a tour of Pennsylvania to call attention to and gain support for the campaign of women's suffrage. It is a copy of the Liberty Bell with the addition of "establish justice" to the top line of the inscription. It was really neat to see after just seeing the Liberty Bell.

I loved all the stained glass, and even the ceiling was patriotic.

The chapel was so ornate. I loved all the details.

After we were done in the chapel we went to a little gift shop they had our back and got some treats to share. Then we were off to stay in New Jersey.
