We went over to Prairie Creek today in search of the famous
(at least in my family) dragon tree. We always took pictures on the dragon tree
when I was a kid and I wanted a picture of my kids on it too. With some
directions from my mom and her sister we found it!
The kids thought it was
funny that we named the tree, so they named their own. They found a downed
tree and the roots were crazy looking so they called it the
Medusa tree.
We hiked around for a while taking in the giant redwoods,
and then found a great spot by the creek for a
picnic. After lunch we drove over to Fern Canyon. It is my favorite hike ever.
I was so glad that Rob and the boys loved it as much as me.

We even found our first banana slug!

Of course Rob had to try and gross out the boys by pretending to eat it.

After our hike there, we drove into town to pick up a few things we forgot. Just outside the park there was a herd of elk.

We got back in time to make dinner and go to the campfire program. After the program we hung out by the fire and had some s'mores.

It was such a great day reliving my childhood.

The next morning the boys had to get some last minute playtime on the logs in before we packed up and headed to Honeyman State Park.
The drive
was awesome again. So much beauty on the coast! We got there in the
evening, and just wanted to relax. We played some cards and then got the kids in
bed.
Rob and I stayed up and played a game before going to bed.
